Hello!

The Friday Night Welcome Party!

If you're coming to the wedding and you make it into Vegas by evening of Friday June 5th, you'll want to be sure to attend our welcome party. We've rented out a bunch of bowling lanes at the Orleans Casino Bowling Alley. There will be loads of pizza on hand so come hungry. Even if you don't care about bowling, it should be a nice environment to meet and greet friends and family.

The Orleans is off the Strip, but not too far. We'll fill you in on the details with maps and shuttle routes in upcoming posts.

Reception Booked!

We've locked in the reservation for our wedding reception at our number one location choice, Maggiano's Little Italy right on the Vegas Strip. If you've ever eaten at a Maggiano's, then you already know the food is great. What you may not know is that a recent article places the Las Vegas Maggiano's at the #3 spot on its "Best Restaurants with a View in Las Vegas" list. Maggiano's has a tremendous view of the North Las Vegas Strip and the Wynn Las Vegas. Large windows give it an open, airy feeling and the setting is upscale and comfortable. We can't wait!

Sunday Bayside Breakfast

FYI, for anyone not skipping out of town early Sunday morning, Erin and I are planning on enjoying the world famed Bayside Buffet Champaign Brunch at the Mandalay Bay at 10:30AM. This will, of course, be our first breakfast as a married couple! Note that this is not one of our formally planned events, so don't feel like there is any obligation. If you're up for it though, we'd love to see you. We're trying to reserve an area so folks can all sit in the same area. Word on the web is that this is the best breakfast buffet in Vegas!

Getting Around in Vegas

Because our wedding events are spread around a large area and many of you won't have cars, transportation is a valid consideration. Here are some helpful transport resources:

For a free ride to the Orleans Casino for our friday night welcome party, one option is the Orleans Casino Shuttle. While the shuttle probably as quick as a cab, the price is certainly right. Here are some details and contact information if you're interested:

ORLEANS CASINO SHUTTLE SERVICE
The Orleans offers free shuttle service to its sister property the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino as well as the Las Vegas strip. The shuttle operates 7 days a week from 9:30 AM to midnight and picks up guests approximately every 20 - 30 minutes from the hotel's Tropicana Avenue entrance. Coast Casinos hotel guests will receive priority seating on all shuttles.

Address: 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89103
Phone: 702-365-7111 • Toll Free: 800-ORLEANS (800-675-3267)

The Las Vegas Monorail is a great way to get up and down the strip. A three-day pass with unlimited rides costs about the same as two typical cab rides.

Las Vegas Monorail (MGM Grand to Sahara)
The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand to the Sahara hotel. The route has seven stations: MGM Grand, Bally's / Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's / Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara. The monorail is open Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Friday - Sunday, 7 a.m. - 3 a.m. Rates for the monorail are $5 for one ride, $12 for an unlimited one-day pass for one person and $28 for an unlimited three-day pass for one person.

Mandalay Bay-Excalibur Tram (this short tram is free, no monorail ticket required)
This monorail's route varies based on what hotel you start at. If you start at the Excalibur main station, the monorail will take you directly to Mandalay Bay - about a 3-minutes trip. If you start from Mandalay Bay, you will stop at the Luxor and then the Excalibur - about a 7-minutes trip. It is in operation 24 hours a day, and trains leave every 3-7 minutes.

Mirage-Treasure Island Tram
The Mirage-Treasure Island tram runs between 9 a.m. - 1 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. - 3 a.m., Friday through Saturday. The tram arrives just about every 15 minutes and the ride lasts about two to four minutes.

GETTING FROM THE WEDDING TO THE RECEPTION
In order to get from our wedding location at the Mandalay Bay to Maggiano's (the reception location in the Fashion Show Mall directly across from the Wynn Casino), the quickest and easiest method is going to be by cab. If you share with other guests, this should be rather inexpensive.

It is possible to take the monorail system for this trip, but it is rather involved and there is no exact stop on the monorail route to get to the Fashion Show Mall. It will involve a lot of walking and street crossing in the heat of the day in your dress clothes, so we're not recommending it. Additionally, simply walking the entire way will leave you in a sweaty mess for the reception (this caveat is for you Dad).

This monorail map below is better than the one above because it actually shows you were the monorail stops are. Click for larger printable size.

Presidential Invite

Along with our ordinary invitations, we sent one out to the President and Mrs. Obama. It seems unlikely that Barack and Michelle will find the time to attend, but we're hoping to receive some kind of congratulatory letter from the White House.
